When Devco Auctioneers first launched, they relied on a third-party auctioneering platform based in the United States, but the rising costs tied to US dollar pricing and fluctuating exchange rates began to negatively affect their bottom line.

To address these financial challenges, Devco partnered with Elula Online to develop an auctioneering platform tailored specifically to their needs. The goal was to create a cost-effective solution to address internal requirements for online auction administration and provide an exceptional user experience for real-time bidding on both Android and iOS devices. The new platform needed to be scalable, offer faster lot loading, and allow real-time updates during auctions.

Elula Online used a range of technologies to develop the bespoke auctioneering platform, that included Laravel for the back-end API and web app, MySQL, Amazon S3, React Native for the mobile applications, Pusher to facilitate real-time alerts and Cloudflare for optimised images.

The custom auctioneering platform developed by Elula Online provided significant benefits to Devco Auctioneers. It dramatically improved the speed of lot loading and bidding on mobile devices, enhancing the user experience for both administrators and bidders. Real-time updates, powered by Pusher, kept bidders engaged with timely alerts on auction milestones.

Devco now fully owns the platform, freeing them from relying on external variables that can affect their core business.
The system was designed with scalability in mind, allowing Devco to easily update and improve their platform as needed, without relying on external service providers.
The end result is a robust and flexible solution that has not only optimised Devco’s auction operations but also positioned them for continued growth in the industry.
